Little millet is an annual herbaceous plant that can grow upright or with folded blades, reaching heights of 30 centimetres (12 inches) to 1 metre (39 inches). It is found in temperate zones of Asia, including the Caucasus, East Asia, China, and, as well as in tropical regions such as India, Indochina, and Malaysia. The sugar content of little millet is released slowly into the blood, delaying glucose absorption from the intestines. As a great alternative to rice, it is high in fibre and rich in minerals like potassium, calcium, zinc, and iron. Little millet is an excellent choice for those looking to lose weight and can be used to make a variety of foods, including puttu, cakes, cookies and more.
